Alexander Valley Vineyards is located on the historic homestead originally settled and built by valley namesake Cyrus Alexander in 1841, who recognized the tremendous potential of land here: good soil, temperate climate and plentiful water. The Alexander Valley AVA is a prominent appellation known worldwide as the source of elegant, age-worthy wines. Alexander Valley Vineyards has an established reputation for estate grown wines with distinctive varietal character. The Wetzel family, who purchased the property in 1962, currently grow fourteen grape varieties on an array of distinctive properties, from vineyards along the Russian River to premier hillside sites on the southern end of the valley. Alexander Valley Vineyards is certified both as Sonoma County Sustainable and a Sonoma County Green Business in recognition for the steps we've taken to follow the best environmental practices and conserve resources. Our goal is simple; to produce high quality wines that emphasize the character of the varietal while following through on our commitment to make wine in sustainable manner.
