We are looking for an energetic and motivated individual to join our team as a Wine Educator. Stony Hill, an iconic Napa Valley pioneer since 1951, is nestled on the slopes of Spring Mountain and crafts elegant wines with minerality and embraces its historic past while moving into the future. This is an exciting opportunity with a company dedicated to producing outstanding wines and providing luxury hospitality. Our wines are all estate-grown and the hospitality house and office are surrounded by vineyards and forestry, offering opportunities to truly interact with the land and the winegrowing every day. This position will be an integral part of the hospitality program at the estate of Stony Hill, reporting to the Estate Director.

Objective: We, as the next generation of one of the most historic wineries in the Napa Valley, are bringing our wines and hospitality into the spotlight of fine luxury. We are passionate about the preservation of our property and surrounding forestry with sustainable practices and lead the way when it comes to our respected team curating personal lifelong relationships by executing every experience at the highest level.

Position Summary: The Wine Educator is responsible for upholding the standards of personalized hospitality set by the Estate Director and ownership of Stony Hill. This includes leading by example, specifically in the areas of professionalism, accountability, and integrity. This position is the first point of contact for guests and members at Stony Hill and is expected to host multiple tasting experiences and establish genuine relationships with our guests. A focus on achieving ambitious sales goals and reimagining five-star hospitality is the cornerstone of how success is measured in this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•  Provide excellent customer service in all areas
•  Provide phone coverage and make reservations when needed
•  Greet all visitors in the tasting room, pour wine, discuss wine, and respond to customer questions as appropriate
•  Support staff by washing and polishing glasses, setting up for tastings/experiences, cleaning, and various other tasks
•  Respond gracefully to complaints and help resolve any issues
•  Create and execute an exclusive experience for each customer: confident and knowledgeable about speaking to wines, varietals, winemaking/viticulture practices, growing
areas, winery, and history
•  Promote the sale of wine and non-wine products sold in the Tasting Room, and drive interest in new memberships
•  Input orders and maintain customer notes accurately and promptly through our CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system
•  A strong focus on closing sales and up-selling is crucial
•  Collect names and email addresses for future contact
•  Learn POS systems and manage high-volume wine and merchandise transactions. Possess a high level of integrity for performing sales transactions
•  Accountable for tracking wine and retail inventory
•  Assist with events: execute timeline, manage to close and to secure the venue concluding events, stock supplies, maintain displays in retail areas
•  Represent winery at outside functions as required
•  Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

•  Must be 21 years of age
•  High School Diploma or Equivalent required
•  2+ years' experience in a premium winery tasting room, hospitality setting, or retail sales position
•  Must be flexible/available to work most weekends, special events, and holidays
•  Possess a valid driver's license
•  Enthusiasm for wine and interest in expanding expertise
•  Superior customer service skills and service driven
•  Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
•  Possesses professional appearance and demeanor
•  Friendly, cheerful, and professional disposition when dealing with guests, vendors, and team members
•  Be a team player, working with other sales educators to reach monthly and daily sales goals
•  Demonstrate the ability to multi-task, follow-up, and work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
•  Must have strong attention to detail
•  Ability to understand and accurately follow written and verbal instructions
•  Proactive and thorough in completing existing tasks and pursuing new assignments
•  The candidate must be flexible and manage constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
•  Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
•  Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and adherence to all safety regulations and operating procedures.

Physical Requirements
•  Must be able to frequently lift and carry weights of up to 40 pounds at varying frequencies
•  Ability to operate various machinery types to include, but not limited to, dishwashers, leaf blowers, etc.
•  Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in the performance of various tasks
•  Ability to stand for long periods of time
